Dal Kabab, made from lentils, is delicious, nutritious, and pure vegetarian. We can make many types of vegetarian dishes with pulses, like pakoras, cutlets, parathas, and dosas. We will make Dal Kabab made of Daal with Kulthi, which we can serve as a great appetiser and evening snack. In the cold season in the mountains, wheat dal is used more for making different types of dishes. Kulath dal, which is considered to be of a hot nature, is a common dish of the mountain people, which gives them energy for such weather. Kulathi is rich in protein, calcium, fat, and antioxidants. Eating Kulathi dal has more nutritious and medicinal properties. Kulthi, considered a superfood, is well known for its health benefits. Gahat dal is beneficial for the prevention of many diseases like kidney stones, obesity, phlegm, bile, high blood pressure, and asthma. I have always liked to make new types of dishes from pulses because they are pure vegetarian and nutritious. For this, I have chosen Gahat ki Dal, which is the staple food of winters in the mountains. I make paratha for breakfast in the morning, dal during the day, and a snack or appetiser in the evening. which I serve with homemade chutney sauce.
How to make gahat dal kabab.
1 . Wash horsegram and urad dal thoroughly and keep them soaked in water for about 8 to 10 hours.
2 . After being soaked overnight, the dal becomes soft. If you have not soaked the dal, you can also use a pressure cooker to cook the dal.
3 . Take two potatoes, boil them, and keep them aside.
4 . Remove the dal from the water and grind it in a mixer grinder till it becomes coarse.
5 . Take out the mixer in a bowl and grate the boiled potatoes.
6 . Add cumin, fennel, black pepper powder, red chilli powder, mango powder, garam masala, green chili, coriander, bread crumbs, and salt to the mixture. If you do not have breadcrumbs, you can also use attator flour and rice flour.
7 . Divide the mixture into small pieces.
8 . Put a pan to heat oil on medium heat. Fry all these pieces when the oil is hot.
9 . To fry everything evenly, fry until both sides become golden.
10 . Take out the fried kebabs in a bowl and serve hot with a chutney or sauce of your choice.
